Ciidae in Canada and Alaska

J. McNamara
This family of small beetles comprises 29 species in Canada and Alaska. The larvae and adults of nearly all species feed on fungal hyphae
comprising the mycelia and especially the fruiting bodies of wood rotting Basidiomycetes. Several species are found under bark, in dead wood,
or in the galleries of bark beetles.
The North American species have been revised by Lawrence (1971) who also published a catalogue of the species (1982c).
