The continental and insular Sub-Saharan Cis are represented by 42 described species, of which eight occur in Southern Africa (comprising Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Republic of South Africa, Swaziland and the southernmost portion of Mozambique; Lopes-Andrade et al. 2009): Cis afer Fåhraeus, Cis bimucronatus Motschulsky, Cis caffer Fåhraeus, Cis capensis Mellié, Cis delagoensis Pic, Cis muriceus Mellié, Cis pickeri Lopes-Andrade et al. and Cis testaceus Fåhraeus. Our aim in this study is to describe a new peculiar species of Cis from the West Cape Province, South Africa
